JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Maintaining effective Procurement Governance & Controls within the Tornado Programme
  • The management of a team of 10 procurement managers and professionals engaged in Tornado procurement activities
  • Manage team resource levels, including the development and training of team members through the company PDR process and Procurement skills and competency matrix, engaging in staff development to improve team performance and motivation. In particular support to company Saudisation strategies and targets.
  • Directly support the achievement of SMSCMC IBP objectives as flowed down and relevant to the procurement teams.
  • Leading and developing appropriate supplier management strategies and activities to ensure that supplier performance meets the required delivery, quality and cost KPI’s.
  • Overall management of our supplier business agreements, contracts registers, management of associated order books for both routine requirements and any special or critical requirements.
  • Responsible for identification and management of procurement risk and opportunity management.
  • Responsible for procurement LCM, including procurement plans and supplier improvement & development activities.
  • Establishing and maintaining close working relationships with key stakeholders such as customers, suppliers and functional colleagues.
  • Leading and managing face to face supplier reviews covering both operational performance, cost reduction, risk management and supply chain improvement initiatives etc.
  • Managing all procurement activities in accordance with current export control regulations and procedures in order to ensure compliance.
  • Supporting current ERP maintenance activities as well as supporting future ERP strategies and implementation
  • Leading / managing procurement input to future bid activities.

Responsibilities:

BAE Systems is the UK Government’s nominated Prime Contractor under the Government-to-Government arrangements that are in place to provide equipment, support and training to Saudi Arabia. We provide maintenance of Royal Saudi Air Force aircraft and train RSAF personnel safely in a training environment in how to use their aircraft, equipment and weapons.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Saudi Maintenance and Supply Chain Management Company (SMSCMC), a BAE Systems majority owned joint venture Company. The successful individual will be working for a company at the forefront of BAE Systems’ commitment to industrialise the supply chain in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Working across the SMSCMC Functions and Project Teams will offer a challenging and rewarding opportunity to contribute to the development and growth of SMSCMC in KSA.
The Head of Procurement for Tornado is responsible for all SMSCMC Procurement activities in support of the Tornado Programme. These responsibilities include managing a team of circa 10 procurement managers and professionals, dealing with day to day procurement and supplier management activities, assuring Procurement controls are in place, developing the team, supporting wider functional activities and reporting progress into the Tornado programme.
The role covers a range of procurement and supplier management including the management of supplier agreements, order book management and performance against agreed KPI’s. Also responsible for associated internal reporting to senior management and external reporting to SMSCMC customers & stakeholders. Typically the post holder will be dealing with suppliers including Rolls Royce, Panavia and Leonardo and other businesses within the BAE Systems Group, with an spend value in excess of £500M
