Description:

The Head of Production, Montreal, is a key part of the local management team, working alongside the Head of Resource Management, heads of department and creative supervisors and the Head of Production in London.
Reporting to the Managing Director, the overall purpose of the role is to oversee the production of all work through the Montreal facility and to manage the production team. The Head of Production has oversight of all project budgets and schedules and specific responsibility for project revenues and costs pertaining to the Montreal facility.

SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Extensive previous experience as an executive or senior VFX producer
  • Highly organised with first-class time/project management skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent client and crew management skills
  • Proven ability to prioritise conflicting tasks
  • Proven ability to manage high revenue budgets
  • Ability to remain calm and confident in a fast-paced environment

Le ou la chef de la production (Montréal) est un membre essentiel de l’équipe de direction locale. Cette personne travaille avec le ou la chef de la gestion des ressources, les chefs de service, les superviseurs et les superviseures de la création ainsi que le ou la chef de la production de Londres.
Sous la supervision du directeur général ou de la directrice générale, le ou la chef de la production a pour rôle principal de gérer la production du travail effectué au bureau de Montréal et de diriger l’équipe de production. Le ou la chef de la production supervise tous les budgets et les échéanciers ayant trait aux projets du bureau de Montréal, en plus d’être responsable des revenus et des coûts qui y sont liés.

Responsibilities:

Production Management

  • Responsible for recruitment and daily management of a team of producers
  • Appraisals of all producers and executive producers
  • Assess local production needs, allocating relevant producer and working with the Head of Production Management to assess the production team allocation to each project
  • Key point of contact for issues arising in Montreal productions; escalating issues and recommendations to the Managing Director where required
  • Joint responsibility, alongside the Head of Production in London, for monitoring production tools and workflows, especially as they pertain to multisite working
  • Joint responsibility, alongside the Head of Production in London, for new show set-up needs and procedures

Executive VFX Production and Budgetary Control

  • Maintain an overview of all producer’s schedules, ensuring projects are completed to the highest standard achievable
  • Meet regularly with producers to monitor project budgets and ensure that they are working within given targets
  • Oversee liaison with clients on specific projects as agreed with the Managing Director
  • Engage in Montreal production team mentoring, support and training as agreed
  • Be available to assist on specific projects if required

Additional Responsibilities

  • Work alongside the Head of Resource Management to assess crewing needs for all VFX projects
  • Liaise with the resources team, HODs and other key support departments as needed
