Role Overview:
We are looking for a dynamic and seasoned Head of the Project Management Office (PMO) to oversee our implementation projects within a Fintech SaaS environment. This crucial position is instrumental in ensuring the success of our solutions by offering strategic leadership, establishing best practices, and steering the Project Management (PM) team along with the wider Client Services department. This is an individual who thrives on driving deadlines and will pull out all the stops to do so. The role offers an exciting opportunity to be based in Cape Town and engage with the world’s leading asset managers.

DESIRED SKILLS, COMPETENCIES AND PERSONAL TRAITS:

  • Minimum of 12 years running medium to large size projects.
  • Expert-level knowledge of project and change management, associated. methodologies, techniques, processes and approaches (Project and Portfolio Management Methodology – PPM) in a SAAS or IT environment.
  • Display strategic thinking capabilities, with abilities to juggle multiple goals and deadlines in the context of the big picture.
  • Ability to mentor, coach and effectively transfer expertise to others
  • Ability to build a strong network and relationships at executive levels with technology and solutions, customers and vendor groups. Ability to identify problems and be effective in problem resolution.
  • Resilience and resourcefulness.
  • Budgeting management skills.
  • Knowledge of Jira, Confluence, Salesforce, Project Office, MS Office and Smartsheets advantageous.
  • Fintech, SAAS or digital experience advantageous.
  • Managing IT projects is mandatory.

EDUCATION:

  • A degree in Project Management, Business Administration or related field (e.g. International Relations) is preferable.
  • Information technology qualifications would be advantageous.

Responsibilities:

  • Leadership and Strategy: Provide visionary leadership to the PMO, setting the strategic direction for project management practices and ensuring alignment with the company’s goals and objectives.
  • Best Practices: Develop, implement, and continuously improve project management methodologies, standards, and tools to ensure consistent and high-quality project delivery.
  • Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and develop the PM team, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Client Services Collaboration: Work closely with the Client Services Department to ensure seamless integration of project management processes and enhance overall client satisfaction.
  • Stakeholder Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including clients, senior management, and cross-functional teams, to ensure successful project outcomes.
  • Performance Monitoring: Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to track project performance, identify areas for improvement, and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Risk Management: Proactively identify and mitigate project risks, ensuring timely resolution of issues to minimise impact on project delivery. Ensure timely escalation to ensure deadlines are consistently met.
  • Resource Allocation: Oversee resource planning and allocation to ensure optimal utilisation of PMO resources and timely project completion.
  • Delivery Quality: Ensure the highest standards of delivery quality by implementing rigorous quality assurance processes, conducting regular project reviews, and gathering client feedback to continuously improve service delivery. Address any client concerns promptly and effectively to maintain strong client relationships and trust.
  • Commercial acumen: Bring a strong commercial discipline and rigour to processes across the client lifecycle, from project planning, scope changes and management reporting.
