We’re seeking a future team member for the role of Head of Prudential Risk and ESG R&C to join our Risk team. This role is located in Manchester, hybrid.
The Prudential Risk function identifies and analyzes financial risk regulations globally in order to provide business and risk functions with advise on interpretation of regulatory requirements and expectations. Prudential Risk supports regulatory implementation by the first and second lines of defense. Expertise is applied across the business to identify and advise primarily on complex, cross functional requirements and implementation.
The function covers regulatory requirements including supranational regulatory bodies (i.e. Basel, the FSB and other pan-regional standard setting bodies) and national regulators of the BNY group. Primary responsibilities of the function include:
Ongoing review and dissemination of new regulations to accountable owners.
Provide insight to business stakeholders on potential applicability and implementation best practices for new regulations
Provide technical expertise and input into advocacy
Support large scale regulatory implementation projects through provision of subject matter expertise and coordination
Provide internal consultative support for change management across financial risk related areas including capital, liquidity, credit risk and market risk
Provide thought leadership on regulatory and market trends in support of potential client requirements and support client facing business staff
The Prudential Risk function operates as a cross discipline second line function, supporting both compliance with regulations and providing expertise, advice and review and challenge of financial risk management approaches from a risk management perspective.

Responsibilities:

Review and assessment of applicability for all global prudential regulations, providing appropriate reporting and insight on regulatory requirements to senior stakeholders throughout BNY, including impacts for capital, liquidity, market risk, credit risk, financial resilience and governance oversight ensuring no gaps in coverage.
Coordination of cross functional or complex regulatory requirements and analysis of potential change requirements. In conjunction with other functions, the successful candidate will take ownership for driving technical change and ensuing compliance with requirements can be evidentially supported
Provide a central point of contact within the 2 nd line risk function for large scale projects
Provide accurate and timely technical advice, oversight and challenge to management on prudential regulatory requirements
Support the development of regular reporting and extend stakeholder value through identification of business needs
Provide thought leadership on thematic regulatory changes for relevant BNY management and as may be relevant for client facing staff
Support assessment of for completeness of compliance owned regulatory change processes, including regulatory identification and traceability
Coordinate and guide other team staff and stakeholders across BNY to ensure for appropriate governance standards are in place to ensure evidence of compliance is complete and appropriate
Coordinate with internal stakeholders, such as Government Affairs and Legal, to represent Risk Management perspectives on prudential regulation topics that require advocacy
Support coordination and management of global financial risk management forums
Input into continued development of Risk and Compliance standards for prudential regulation
Represent BNY at relevant industry events/ forums, including representation on industry bodies
