Description:
JOB SUMMARY
We are now seeking a dynamic Head of Region who directly reports to the Assistant Director of Blood Donation Operations. As such, you will oversee the operational leadership and performance management of the blood donation teams based throughout your region. You will lead the continued development of service redesign and improvement to ensure that Blood Donation remains at the forefront of high-quality service delivery and innovation. A proven track record of operational success by building high performing teams delivering excellent service outcomes, is essential, gained in a complex context, with significant exposure to successful change leadership, and an obsession with quality and safety.
EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE
- Substantial management and leadership experience in a clinical environment at a senior level
- Demonstrable evidence of successful improvement in service deliver and implementation of change
- Experience of managing and motivating a multidisciplinary team to deliver a corporate strategy and business objectives
- Extensive experience of working with budgets
- Experience in setting, monitoring and evaluating standards of care / customer service initiatives.
- Knowledge of patient safety initiatives, strategies and risk management
- Experience of leading on either clinical or compliance audits
- Experience of working with information technology using Microsoft Office packages (Word, Excel and PowerPoint), or equivalent Systems
QUALIFICATIONS AND TRAINING
- Possession of a post graduate management qualification or significant operational/clinical equivalent experience in a large, complex environment
- Degree at Masters level or equivalent experience gained by working at senior managerial/nurse level
- Evidence of commitment to continued learning and application to practice
- Possess a valid driving licence, allowing you to drive in the UK

Responsibilities:
MAIN DUTIES OF THE JOB
- Delivery of both operational and clinical standards of service that are compliant with all regulatory and legislative requirements whilst ensuring balanced delivery of all whole blood and blood component donation against NHSBT strategic targets. This is a multi-departmental responsibility.
- Drive and lead service improvement / transformation to deliver high quality services with maximum efficiency and ensure that lean methodology is used in implementing and embedding operating models throughout their function continuously seeking opportunities to identify and incorporate best practice into service delivery.
- Leading the development, motivation, and inspiration of multidisciplinary teams within their function, demonstrating adherence to NHSBT’s core purpose and behaviours and ensuring that regulatory targets and compliance against quality, risk and governance standards are met.
- Accountability for care and service standards meet public expectations at all times and upholding the reputation of NHSBT at all times.
You will be required to travel and spend time away from base, which will involve working irregular hours and overnight stays when required, with prior notice
