We’ve got an exciting opportunity for a self-driven, experienced, and passionate individual to join Skipton Building Society as our Head of Regulatory Reporting. The key purpose of this leadership role is to ensure that the regulatory reporting produced by the Society is accurate, complete, and timely; that a strong governance framework is in place and data lineage is maintained. We’re looking for someone with both the strong technical knowledge and the gravitas to influence key stakeholders and deliver on regulatory commitments.
You’ll manage a team of 7 within our talented and high performing Group Finance team and report into the Director of Group Finance. The role works in partnership with our business to ensure that the Society’s approach to regulatory reporting within the regulatory reporting framework evolves with the business.

What Will You Be Doing?
As our Head of Regulatory Reporting you’ll be responsible for all 1LOD activities relating to regulatory reporting including supporting regulatory projects and horizon scanning. This crucial role assists the Director of Group Finance and the Group Chief Financial Officer in providing assurance to the Board over regulatory reporting and disclosures. Working closely with our business, 2LOD risk functions, 3LOD Group Internal Audit and is expected to attend and present at executive and board committee level.
Key accountabilities include:
- Lead the ongoing development, documentation, implementation, and maintenance of the Regulatory Reporting Framework within the Regulatory Reporting Team.
- Seek to continually improve processes and systems within the Regulatory Reporting area, with an emphasis upon strong data lineage, regulatory requirements, efficiency optimisation, and the long-term benefits for the Society.
- Lead the automation of regulatory reporting and related models to improve efficiency and reduce the risk of error.
- Build and maintain strong relationships across the business, being recognised as a highly credible individual who can communicate complex concepts in a simple to understand, straightforward manner.
- Governance including the delivery of regulatory returns, presenting reports to senior committees and stakeholders internally, and externally to the Prudential Regulation Authority, tailoring the approach to suit the audience.
- Continuous awareness and development of technical knowledge and emerging regulatory requirements through insights and a strong external network.
What Do We Need From You?
To be successful in this role you’ll need:
- Significant experience of operating in a similar level role, with the technical expertise in regulatory reporting requirements in a bank or building society.
- Strong ability to interpret regulatory requirements, identify linkages between different regulatory requirements and establish the impact on the Society; and to assimilate new and complex information rapidly with ease.
- An ability to develop, document and embed regulatory reporting frameworks.
- In addition to technical excellence, the role requires strong business acumen and exceptional communication skills, with the ability to interpret and concisely explain technical information to non-technical audiences.
- Exceptional leadership skills, providing technical guidance, support and challenge and fostering an inclusive and dynamic team culture.
