QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical/Electrical/Structural Engineering, or a related field; a Master’s degree is highly preferred.
Experience: Extensive and stable experience in research and development leadership, preferably within the data centre or related industries.

SKILLS

  • Proven track record of successfully managing R&D teams, projects, and innovation initiatives.
  • Strong technical expertise in M &E design, steel fabrication, and modular construction
  • Deep understanding of sustainability challenges and opportunities within R&D.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders.
  • Experience managing R&D budgets and ensuring optimal allocation of resources.
  • A passion for innovation, sustainability, and continuous improvement.
  • Willingness to travel as needed to support R&D operations and collaborations.

Responsibilities:

ABOUT THE ROLE

Tate is currently seeking an innovative and results-oriented Head of Research and Development (R&D) to lead and oversee the R&D function. As the Head of R&D, you will be pivotal in driving the development of cutting-edge technologies and solutions that shape the future of data centre infrastructure. This role will involve collaborating with key stakeholders, ensuring that Tate remains at the forefront of innovation, and delivering solutions that meet the evolving needs of global cloud hosting companies

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead and oversee the R&D function at Tate, ensuring the development of advanced technologies that align with business goals and market trends.
  • Direct the design, prototyping, and testing of new products and processes, ensuring that all R&D activities align with Tate’s sustainability and efficiency objectives.
  • Constantly evolving our existing product set to ensure they remain valuable propositions to industry customers.
  • Collaborate with internal teams such as engineering, product management, and sales to ensure that R&D projects support business growth and customer needs.
  • Drive the innovation strategy, focusing on emerging technologies and trends in the data centre sector.
  • Ensure R&D projects adhere to timelines, budgets, and performance objectives, delivering high-quality solutions to meet industry demands.
  • Build and mentor a high-performing R&D team, fostering a culture of creativity, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Work closely with our business development and sales teams to ensure we can design solutions to their evolving needs.
  • Maintain close relationships with external partners, clients, and research institutions to ensure Tate remains at the cutting edge of industry developments.
  • Oversee IP strategy and management, ensuring that all innovations are protected and aligned with Tate’s long-term goals.
  • Promote sustainability in R&D processes, contributing to Tate’s commitment to the Kingspan Group’s Planet Passionate sustainability strategy.
  • Represent Tate at industry events and conferences, positioning the company as a leader in data centre innovation.
