Description:

To be an expert practitioner in the field of child and adult safeguarding, domestic violence and Mental Capacity Act. Lead for safeguarding arrangements within LPFT for (children) and adults. To be a member of the Local Safeguarding Childrens Partnership, Safeguarding Adults Board, Domestic Abuse Partnership and link with local networks. To lead on all statutory safeguarding reviews eg Serious Case Reviews delegate to team members where appropriate.
Lead on the development of specialist / expert knowledge and skill in current evidenced based safeguarding, public protection & mental capacity practice and the ability to transfer this in to practice through safeguarding team development, advice giving, training and other duties. To lead specific working groups in order to achieve targets and objectives in relation to (Safeguarding Children), Adults, Domestic Abuse, MAPPA, Prevent , anti-social behaviour (ASB), advocacy & Mental Capacity. Lead and delegate on oversee Trust incidents and serious incidents, including allegations against staff, volunteers and students. To lead on the Trusts safeguarding and mental capacity elements of the mortality review process as required.
To provide leadership and support to safeguarding within human resource and workforce functions including Disclosure and Barring Service employment decision making, safer recruitment and allegations strategy meeting. To lead on complex case management on behalf of the Trust including cases before the Courts. To creatively develop the safeguarding, public protection and capacity elements business plans / cases for the Trust alongside the Business Managers to support tenders for new and existing contracts and tenders. Demonstrate service user and carer involvement in developing safeguarding, public protection and capacity processes that are informative and supportive and that the service users views and rights are at the centre of all decision making about them.
To attend the safeguarding and public protection Strategic and Operational Board level meetings on behalf of the Trust. Where required to oversee and support staff in writing reports for court including safeguarding issues, Family Court and Court of Protection Cases. On occasion author a report for Court and attend to represent the Trust if necessary. The post holder will work and represent the Trust at a senior level with a range of key professionals and partner agencies in order to contribute to the ongoing development and delivery of Trust and safeguarding board processes and practice designed to protect children and young people, service users and families experiencing domestic abuse and adults at risk from harm and promote their welfare through safeguarding processes.
Advise, inform and escalate safeguarding concerns to the Director of Nursing, AHPs and Quality for Safeguarding or external agencies and Trust managers regarding all matters of safeguarding, public protection or mental capacity as appropriate
