Description:

Responsibilities:

Based in our Leicester office 2 days a week and 3 days remote, the Head of SEO will oversee SEO projects and retainers (across on-page, off-page and technical SEO) within Williams Commerce’s digital marketing agency.
They are the main point of accountability for the success of these projects. Reporting to the Marketing Director, the Head of SEO will align the SEO strategy for client retainers, department capacity and efficiency, ensure the success and retention of existing clients, and lead and inspire the SEO team.

As a Head Of SEO at Williams Commerce, you will:

  • Develop and execute comprehensive SEO strategies and projects, aligning them with client goals, including delegating and reviewing relevant work with the wider SEO team.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships through effective communication and strategic SEO delivery which will improve their SEO performance
  • Produce monthly performance reports, and lead Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs) and regular performance updates for the clients you are responsible for
  • Help integrate SEO earlier into e-commerce projects, including successful SEO migrations and go-lives, and overseeing SEO implications for builds from the outset
  • Develop the SEO services we offer and support internal marketing to help the department grow, working with the Marketing Director and the Head of Paid Media as part of the senior marketing management team.
  • Train and support junior team members within the SEO department by fostering a collaborative and high-performance team culture, encouraging innovation and continuous improvement.

You will bring:

  • At least 6+ years of direct experience managing SEO projects across on-page, off-page, technical and backlink-building
  • Have previously worked within a digital marketing agency or an e-commerce setting (in-house or agency)
  • GA4 certified and familiar with relevant SEO platforms and tools (GSC, SEMrush, Ahrefs, Moz, Screaming Frog, Majestic etc)
  • Demonstrate strong analytical skills and have experience analysing data, creating insights and recommendations and producing reports for clients and senior partners. Translating data and technical jargon into easy-to-understand concepts, championing the importance of SEO and galvanising support from the wider business for this to embed best practices.
  • Embrace a willingness to learn and stay updated on industry, technology and best practices, and drive knowledge-sharing within the team
  • Excellent communication and follow-up, able to flex your style to deal with C-level to junior-level staff
  • Line management experience is preferable, but not mandatory
