Hours: Full time 40 hours per week. Hybrid working between remote, onsite and on-call.

Pay: £55,000.00-£75,000.00 per year

We’re looking for a Head of Software Development to join our expanding team at Big Motoring World. As leading the development team you’ll be a key part of expanding our in-house tools and web services to deliver a more efficient and enjoyable experience to both our colleagues and customers alike.
We primarily focus on building our internal services, whether it’s our internal web system to manage and control stock and customers, or our tooling to automate the photography of vehicles, to integrating with partners to maximise efficiency on all sides and building out tooling to help us optimise our entire journey from sourcing of vehicles to helping our customers purchase them and everything in between.
We offer a role that lets you do what you do best, within a small engaged team with plenty of opportunities for your own greenfield projects to bring your own unique insight and ideas to our quickly growing business.
We’re seeking an experienced C# Developer with a passion to build new technologies. Heading up a small team, the ideal candidate will be comfortable in .NET development both frontend and backend and be able to take the initiative to solve complex problems to make internal and external systems that let our business thrive and improve performance, usability, scalability and reliability. ESSENTIALS SKILLS

  • Minimum 4 years of experience in software development with at least 2 years in Full Stack or frontend development
  • Be a creative problem-solver; ability to learn new technologies and apply these quickly to the business
  • Have a proven track record of taking projects from the ground to reality alone and as part of a team
  • Proven ability to turn commercial ideas into well built, real world software

DESIRABLE SKILLS

  • Experience using Azure / AWS and CI/CD pipelines
  • Strong Analytics or statistics background is a plus as a data driven company, this kind of insight is always welcome in all teams at BIG

Responsibilities:

  • Management of ~3-4 developers
  • Design, develop, maintain, and deploy complex solutions using C# / JS / Azure / AWS / SQL
  • Solve difficult technical problems, to adopt and evolve strong automation and process to safeguard process and quality
  • Create services and reporting that helps the company achieve goals and maximise efficiency
  • Expand on our existing web interface both for our internal systems and our customer facing website
  • Working on pushing new features and updates onto our existing platform
  • Lead projects from start to finish to expand our scope of offerings to partners and internal staff
  • Updating and maintaining our platform to ensure the service runs smoothly and efficiently
  • Developing loosely coupled new solutions that are scalable, testable, modularised, and reusable
  • Working in a team environment using agile project approaches
  • Delivering enhancement including user-requested functionalities and features
  • Working with other members of the team to strive for the best group outcomes and knowledge – We have a strong help each other mentality in every project
  • Providing software expertise and knowledge as and when required by projects
