Step into this role as the leader of our 24/7 Spot Trading team, reporting directly to the Vice President of Portfolio Optimisation & Pricing!
Here, you’ll take charge of managing the daily physical electricity and gas trading position, driving our strategy to maximize value in the fast-paced wholesale energy markets.
You’ll be at the heart of the action, leveraging proprietary trading techniques and optimizing our diverse asset portfolio. Your insights will not only shape our trading decisions but also play a key role in providing ancillary services that enhance our market presence.

WHAT SKILLS/EXPERIENCE DO I NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL?

  • Proven experience in energy trading with a focus on spot markets, preferably with exposure to renewable generation and flexible electricity generation assets;
  • Proven leadership experience with the ability to drive team performance and foster a collaborative environment;
  • Working in a fast-paced trading environment, ability to make decisions under pressure and provide a clear course of action;
  • Excellent analytical and quantitative skills with proficiency in trading software and data analysis tools;
  • In-depth understanding of the principles and concepts of European electricity and gas markets, infrastructure and key players;
  • Knowledge of balancing mechanisms and ancillary service markets, relationship with wholesale markets.

Responsibilities:

  • Spearhead and mentor a team of Spot Traders and ensure smooth running of the 24/7 operations;
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive spot trading strategy which is aligned with the Company’s overall business objectives and market conditions;
  • Monitor market trends, pricing dynamics and regulatory developments to identify trading opportunities and inform decision-making;
  • Establish and oversee risk management protocols to mitigate risk and ensure compliance with risk limits, trading control procedures and regulations;
  • Work closely with other departments, including other trading desks, finance and compliance to ensure alignment of trading strategies with organisational goals;
  • Analyse trading performance metrics and generate reports to evaluate effectiveness, adjust strategies and optimise results;
  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including market participants, regulatory bodies and industry associations;
  • Stay up to date of best practices in trading operations and technology advancements, suggest and implement improvements to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
