REQUIRED SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • The successful candidate will have a deep understanding of how MoD, the Royal Navy and the procurement community operate.
  • Professional credibility and experience of Navy Command and DE&S.
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of the target market and customer base in which to achieve growth.
  • Ability to rapidly assimilate in-depth understanding of Lockheed Martin UK and wider Lockheed Martin capabilities in the US, with particular emphasis on mapping these to the needs of the UK customer.
  • Ability to demonstrate entrepreneurial innovation and adaptability, driving initiatives to enable successful business growth.

  • Thought leader and strategic thinker with the ability to translate strategy into clearly articulated plans. Proven depth of experience in pursuing and delivering successful outcomes in a business or similar environment.

  • Ideally from an operational background with command or senior military leadership experience.
  • Experience that encompasses a military and commercial environment and evidence of success in bringing large programmes of relevance through a business development cycle.
    All successful applicants will be required to have necessary residency requirements to achieve security clearance at the appropriate level for this position. Applicants selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.

Responsibilities:

ABOUT THE ROLE

Lockheed Martin is seeking an experienced and dynamic individual to join our team as a Head of Strategic Engagement, with a focus on the Maritime Domain. This high-level role will provide you with the opportunity to work closely with key stakeholders in the UK Ministry of Defence (MoD), the Royal Navy, Strategic Command, DE&S, AWE, DNO, and industry partners, helping shape and influence strategic business growth within the UK and Export markets, including NATO.
As part of our Global Business Development team, you will report to the Chief Executive and work alongside existing Strategic Engagement and Government Affairs Managers to build lasting relationships and grow new business opportunities. You will also play a critical role in enhancing Lockheed Martin’s collaboration with our US-based businesses to strengthen our position in the UK and overseas markets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Gain appropriate access and influence across relevant Government Departments.
  • Build and maintain enduring, inclusive relationships with key stakeholders, creating mutually beneficial partnerships; taking full advantage of internal and external synergies.
  • Supporting high level capture campaigns with a focus on key customer priorities and concerns.
  • Establish strong networks and structures to enhance collaboration with Lockheed Martin’s US based businesses to maximise the ability to grow new and established business in the UK and overseas markets.
  • Work closely with Front Line Commands and the MoD to build lasting relationships and increase our Pwin in the export market.
  • Be the Strategic Engagement focus for Maritime Enablers within Global Business Development in the UK.
