SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS FOR THIS POST
- Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement comprehensive street cleansing and caretaking strategies that align with local authority goals, sustainability initiatives, and resident expectations.
- Operational Management: Oversee the day-to-day operations of street cleaning, caretaking services, and litter management, ensuring that all areas are maintained to the highest standards.
- Efficiency and Innovation: Identify opportunities for service improvements using new technologies, equipment, and working practices to deliver cleaner streets and public spaces more efficiently.
- Performance Monitoring: Set clear KPIs and monitor service performance, ensuring that street cleansing and caretaking services meet agreed standards and deliver continuous improvement.
- Community Engagement: Engage with residents, businesses, and community groups to promote shared responsibility for cleaner streets, encouraging local involvement and feedback.
- Compliance and Safety: Ensure that all operations are compliant with health and safety regulations, environmental standards, and industry best practices.
- Team Leadership: Lead, motivate, and develop a large team of street cleansing operatives and caretakers, fostering a culture of pride in service delivery and high performance.
- Budget and Resource Management: Manage budgets effectively, ensuring that resources are allocated efficiently and that services are delivered within financial constraints.

We are looking for an experienced and proactive leader with a strong background in street cleansing, caretaking, or environmental services. You will have a proven ability to manage large teams and deliver high standards of cleanliness and public space maintenance. Your strategic thinking, alongside a passion for enhancing public environments, will help us provide cleaner, safer streets and estates for all residents.
Key Skills and Experience:
- Experience: Significant experience in street cleansing, caretaking, or a similar environmental services role, ideally within a local authority or public sector.
- Leadership: Proven ability to lead and inspire large, operational teams, driving performance and delivering high-quality services.
- Operational Excellence: Strong knowledge of street cleansing and caretaking best practices, with a track record of delivering service improvements and efficiencies.
- Community Focus: Experience working with residents and community groups to promote engagement and ownership of public space cleanliness.
- Health and Safety: Strong understanding of health and safety regulations and experience in implementing safe working practices across operational teams.
- Budget Management: Ability to manage significant budgets, ensuring value for money and efficient allocation of resources.
- Innovation and Sustainability: A passion for driving innovation in street cleansing, with a focus on sustainability and environmental impact reduction.
