Description:

Beat Games is an integral part of Reality Labs at Meta, and their smash hit game, Beat Saber, is a top performer on the Quest Platform. Beat Games is located in Prague, Czech Republic, and they are the award-winning game studio that created the original Beat Saber, which has sold over 4 million copies to date and has collaborated with some of the biggest names in music including Queen, The Rolling Stones, Billie Eilish, Lady Gaga, BTS and The Weeknd. We have ambitious plans for the future of Beat Saber that explore even more exciting ways to play with music in VR. This role reports to the Director of First Party Studios at Meta and is a key role in building the future of VR games and entertainment within the Beat Games franchise. This role is full time on-site in Prague or Europe remote and in conformance with Meta’s RTO policies. This role will require frequent travel to the Beat Games Studio in Prague, Czech Republic for multiple-day stays for any candidates not located in Prague. It will also require periodic (4-6x per year) travel to the United States for Studios Leadership events. The Head of Studio will be expected to conduct several weekly meetings to sync up with the United States West Coast, which will be early evening in Prague.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 15+ years of experience shipping AAA titles as a Head of Studio or Franchise Director. Ability to take a concept, build a strategy, ignite passion within those around you to build a world-class experience.
  • Experience successfully building a Game Studio from the ground up, and launching 2 or more games within a major franchise.
  • Deep experience working on Data-Science driven games and demonstrated success integrating metrics to grow revenue, reduce churn, and increase customer lifetime value.
  • Innovative problem solver who suggests solutions for product and business challenges and brings the right people together to solve problems and resolve bottlenecks.
  • People management experience growing, coaching and developing team members.
  • High EQ person who can deal with creatives, business people, and Meta corporate teams.
  • Communication and presentation skills to build relationships with internal leadership and manage their expectations.
  • Experience in creative and design leadership - pushing craft, exploring new ways of creating and making beautiful things come to life.
  • Quantitative, analytical, and conceptual problem-solving skills combined with business acumen.
  • Demonstrated ability to partner with cross-functional leadership to turn insights into actions.
  • Excellent written prose and clear written presentations with a high level of craft.
  • Excellent verbal skills for presentations of materials to Studio Leads and internal personnel.
  • Ability to move nimbly in a large organization, navigate roadblocks, and solve problems on the fly.
  • Ability to problem-solve individually and in a group setting.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Consumer product experience in VR/MR/AR.
  • Future-first mindset, experience creating on new platforms.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all aspects of the Studio, including strategy, planning, production, creative output, development, and live operations.
  • Collaborate with Beat Games leadership to define the vision and strategy for Beat Saber and future opportunities under the Beat Games franchise.
  • Drive technical excellence and quality in the product, and be the vision leader for process evolution, studio culture and team health.
  • Establish processes and identify best practices for design, production, development and live services across the Studio.
  • Proactively identify gaps and inefficiencies across the organization and implement solutions. Optimize existing processes and frameworks to gain efficiencies.
  • Own P&L, budget and headcount for the Studio, including quarterly forecasting and annual planning.
  • Own monthly Studio All Hands and Studio wide communications. Collaborate with XFNs on creating monthly and Quarterly Business Reviews (MBRs).
  • Maintain the highest standards of quality and optimize team performance by working collaboratively to drive results and outcomes.
  • Manage, coach and mentor the leadership team. Support their career growth and continue building their capabilities.
  • Lead by example to promote a culture of excellence and encourage a sustainable work/life balance.
  • Partner closely with cross-functional teams across all workstreams to influence and align on business efforts. Cross-functional teams include: Oculus Studios Strategy and Operations, Marketing, PMM, Partnerships, Legal, and HR.
  • Provide ongoing executive-level reporting on progress and flag risks and mitigations to Oculus Studios Leadership.
  • Frequent travel to the studio in Prague if not seated on-site with the team.
