Description:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Head of Taxation to lead the provision of advice on all Taxation and manage compliance with all relevant tax laws and regulations. The purpose of this role is to work with senior stakeholders to define and implement the Tax policy, ensure compliance with tax laws and regulations including reporting requirements and deadlines; to ensure that tax risks are identified and well managed, and to advise senior management on a range of actions for corporate activities giving due consideration to any tax impact.
Voyage Care is a sector leading provider, with 35 years experience of specialist care and support. We support over 3,500 people with Learning disabilities, autism, brain injuries and other complex needs across the UK.
Voyage has significant growth ambitions in the next 5-10 years and this role will be fundamental to delivering the growth agenda. You will support all forms of growth, while ensuring that such growth is delivered responsibly and sustainably.
The role will be Hybrid working with travel to Group Support in Lichfield

Responsibilities:

You will be accountable for:

  • Devise, deliver and gain Board approval for the Group’s tax strategy covering direct, employment and indirect tax obligations. Ensure visibility with key stakeholders and ensure adherence to the strategy.
  • Foster good relationships with HMRC and tax advisors, defending tax positions where needed.
  • Ensure the business complies with all statutory requirements relating to direct, employment and indirect taxes; managing the processes to ensure that all key tax returns are filed including Group VAT return, employment tax filings (e.g. PSA) and corporate tax returns.
  • Maintain appropriate tax governance, policies and processes to identify and minimise tax risk across all taxes including managing the Senior Accounting Officer process.

Role Specific Requirements: What Voyage Care would like from you:

  • CTA qualified or equivalent and proven experience
  • Minimum of 7-10 experience post qualification with evidence of continuous professional development
  • Strong knowledge of UK direct and indirect taxes
  • A track record working with Senior Management and the Board in a complex organisation providing taxation advice, leading tax due diligence for acquisitions and tax workstreams for integrating new services.
  • Well-developed communication skills, verbal, written and presentational.
  • Commercial mindset and approach
  • Excellent engagement and influencing skills, with the ability to gain the confidence of senior management as well as provide challenge.
  • A strong change agent, looking to identify opportunities for improvements in all areas of the business.
  • Excellent analytical skills, and strong eye for detail.
  • Ability to work under pressure and deliver results.
  • Willingness to work with a hybrid approach, attending the office as required
