Responsibilities:

Part of the O’Brien® AutoGlass Operations Senior Leadership Team, the Head of Technical Training and Excellence is responsible for providing leadership, strategic direction and support to our Technical Training Team, and by extension our Service Centre network nationally. In this role you will support the growth objectives of the AutoGlass network by managing the technical skill development of both new and existing O’Brien® Technicians, and acting as a people leader to our Technical Trainers, providing leadership and line management support. Through exceptional leadership, this role will champion our world class technical style (known as the Belron Way of Fitting), and drive continuous improvement and innovation. Key duties and responsibilities include:

  • Provide leadership, coaching and direction to our Technical Training Team
  • Drive world class network performance across all KPI’s through effective leadership, coaching and innovation, with a key focus on quality of work and reduction in warranty jobs
  • Overall accountability for technical performance across the AutoGlass Network related to vehicle glass repair, replacement, and recalibration (VGRRR)
  • Instil and drive a technical excellence mindset throughout the network, achieving full compliance with the Belron Way of Fitting
  • Design and delivery of training solutions to meet current and future requirements
  • Focus on technological innovations and advancements occurring in the VGRR and ADAS industries
  • Conceptualise and assist in the development of objectives, strategies and plans aimed at achieving business growth, stakeholder and customer satisfaction and the efficient use of O’Brien® resources (technical equipment and people)
  • Identify and discuss organisational successes and challenges with internal and external stakeholders
  • Conduct an overview of O’Brien® current systems, technologies, training programs and structures to assess whether these are fit for purpose and evaluate their effectiveness both now and moving into the future
  • Direct and influence stakeholders, including clients, towards more efficient solutions in the technical space, including ADAS
  • Advance the rollout of solutions to enhance our recalibrations business - AsTech technology and OEM development of remote solutions
  • Discuss current systems and procedures for technical training with staff in the Technical Training Team and broader AutoGlass Network, observing systems at all levels of the business and making appropriate recommendations
  • Review existing and proposed methods and procedures for technical training
  • Review operating procedures of Technicians performing repair and replacement of glass and advise the business of departures from the procedures and standards
  • Ensure adherence to the “Belron Way” of fitting and training, maintaining consistency and quality in all service operations.
  • Electric Vehicle Diagnostics - stay updated with the latest developments in electric vehicle technology. Provide expert diagnostic support for electric vehicles to identify and resolve issues efficiently and safely
  • Build and maintain strong business relationships with technology suppliers and technical teams for vehicle manufacturers
  • This role will be visible to senior stakeholders within Australia and the Belron global group to influence and present technical performance
