Head of Technology, Quantitative and Passive Equity Strategies
HSBC Asset Management (AM), the investment management business of the HSBC Group, serves HSBC’s worldwide customer base of retail and private clients, intermediaries, corporates and institutions invested in both segregated accounts and pooled funds. HSBC Asset Management fulfils its purpose of connecting HSBC’s clients with investment opportunities around the world through an international network of offices in approximately 30 countries, delivering global capabilities with local market insight.
Role Overview: To lead the architecture, design and implementation of the quantitative equity technology platform within the Front Office with a focus on the systematic active and passive equity investment processes. You will manage a team that provides the ongoing delivery of quantitative and decision support tooling (Visualizer) for the equity research platform ensuring the highest possible quality in a quick and reliable manner. The role holder is expected to be familiar with standard software development practices (code versioning, documentation, Agile methodology, IT process flows in a corporate environment and user training).

In this role you will:
- Lead and support the Quantitative Equities Team and other key stakeholders to design, build, test and support decision support tooling.
- Contribute to research projects, application and solution development taken on by the team in terms of data analysis, model design, build, verification and presentation.
- Be responsible for making sure that all requirements defined by teams are successfully delivered through the applications and solutions and ensure that these are understood, reviewed and signed off.
- Collaborate with other teams across HSBC Operations, Services and Technology designers, developers, and project managers to complete, thoroughly test, and deliver innovative software solutions.
- Perform functional analysis (data, systems and interfaces) and translate business requirements into functional requirements and designs.
- Maintain oversight of associated financial costs and other budgetary considerations.
To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:
- Extensive experience of working in a front office environment and in turn be knowledgeable of asset management products or similar portfolio managed financial instruments.
- Worked at a senior level in a professional development capacity with extensive programming experience and be familiar with a number of the following: R, HTML, Javascript, CSS, C#, .NET, Python, MSSQL, script automation in Windows and Linux, data visualisation.
- Demonstrate experience in the design and implementation of fully integrated back end to front end platforms.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability collaborate and influence stakeholders from a wide range of internal business areas.
- Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple deadlines under pressure with conflicting priorities.
- Attained a high level of education (preferably Master) a relevant subject such as in computer science, engineering, physics, mathematics or equivalent.
This role is based in HSBC office at 8 Canada Square London you should be able to travel to London on a weekly basis.
