Description:
Responsibilities The postholder is accountable for all aspects of the UPD initiative with significant autonomy. Specific accountabilities include: Designing, delivering and evaluating UPDs strategy in an agile way within a rapidly changing and ambiguous external context Leading, shaping and managing the delivery of a programme of work across four key functions (developing the health data community, commissioning research and resources, influencing and advocating, and communications and media), including developing business plans for new programmes of work which take into account finance and programme delivery targets Managing an independent governance structure, made up of the UPD Steering Group, Governance Group (including NHS Confederation Trustee Board members), and funder requirements. The Steering Group contains C-suite level individuals from across the UK Actively seeking, assessing and progressing new strategic work opportunities and partnerships, with a focus on generating income for UPD in an ethical way, to reduce its reliance on continuous grants Leading and developing the UPD team in an inclusive and supportive way, particularly through change Acting as a public figure, representing UPD and sharing best practice at domestic (UK-wide) and international events, speaking at conferences, and providing quotes to the media. Providing detailed policy advice and analysis about public attitudes to inform governments, NHS bodies, research organisations and civil society organisations, including challenge (privately and publicly) Working with underrepresented communities in an inclusive, ethical and sensitive way Managing UPDs budget of ~£1m per year, consisting of multiple funding streams (grants and contracts) with different requirements and meeting the NHS Confederations financial reporting arrangements as a Budget Holder.
Managing procurement processes to deliver up to six contracted-out projects per year, including associated contract negotiations, data sharing protocols, and supplier management Chairing national-level forums on behalf of other organisations, e.g. NHS England Acting as a senior leader and people manager within the directorate and across the organisatio
