Description:

JOB OVERVIEW

We are seeking a skilled and passionate Head Pastry Chef to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in food preparation and a keen eye for detail, be organised, have experience in a kitchen leadership role and experience in cake production and decorating. This role requires creativity, a commitment to food safety, a collaborative mindset, the ability to give and follow instruction, give and receive feedback, an interest in cake baking and seasonality and the ability to work efficiently in a small, fast-paced kitchen environment.

EXPERIENCE

  • Proven experience as a Pastry Chef or Baker in a leadership role within a restaurant or bakery setting.
  • Strong knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices in the kitchen.
  • Proficiency in various cooking techniques related to baking and pastry production and ability to engage all senses whilst baking to produce the highest standard of baked goods.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a busy kitchen environment.
  • A culinary qualification or relevant training is advantageous but not essential.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and bake Violet cakes and bakes according to established recipes.
  • Ensure all food safety standards are met during the preparation and cooking processes.
  • Work with the Business Owner/Executive Head Chef to adapt the menu according to the seasons, current sales and needs of the bakery.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen area, including proper storage of ingredients.
  • Collaborate with other kitchen staff to ensure timely service and high-quality production.
  • Monitor inventory levels of baking supplies and sales.
  • Follow the Violet standard of baked items and visual impact according to the guidelines previously established, and to work alongside the Business Owner/Head Chef to deliver the Violet vision.
