Description:
POSITION SUMMARY:
This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Provides quality instruction of tennis techniques, rules, and etiquette to all ages and abilities; with the ability to monitor, and adjust teaching strategies based on the dynamics of the individual or group. Creates a safe and positive atmosphere that welcomes and respects all individuals and promotes safety in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinates and schedules private lessons, leagues, tournaments, clinics and specialty camps as assigned.
- Summer Camp leadership at off-site camps.
- Ability to teach fundamental tennis skill, maintain a consistent rally, feed tennis balls, and knowledge of a wide variety of tennis focused drills and games.
- Instructs above 4.0 skill level; Coaches up to 5.0 level.
- Organizes and puts away needed class equipment. Reports damaged equipment.
- Identifies and celebrates the successes of members and program participants, as well as pro-activelycommunicating areas of concern.
- Maintains records and submits on time, as required.
- Supports Director of Tennis with administrative duties, as assigned.
- Follows all YMCA policies, rules, regulations and procedures, including emergency and safety procedures. Completes incident and accident reports as necessary.
- Knows and reviews all emergency procedures and responds to emergency situations immediately in accordance with YMCA policies, procedures, completes related reports as required.
- Knowledge of and commitment to the mission of the YMCA and our three areas of focus: youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility.
- Ability to articulate and model the Y’s four core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility.
- Attends all staff meetings and in-service training.
- Wear required and approved uniform items at all time.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
