SALARY RANGE: $75,000 – $105,000 (dependent on experience)

BUSINESS CAPABILITIES:

  • Develop and manage a Health and Safety strategy and annual plan which aligns with RJC’s overarching Strategic Plan
  • Build an annual Health and Safety budget which is in concert with the overall Human Resources budget for RJC
  • Demonstrated competence with applied safety and auditing fundamentals, and risk management practices
  • Provide advice, guidance, and consultation to internal and external stakeholders on the application of Health and Safety policies and processes

EDUCATION

  • Post-secondary degree/diploma in Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent

EXPERIENCE

  • Eight (8) years related Health and Safety experience
  • Experience building and delivering people-centric programs that have impact across a complex organization
  • Demonstrated ability to create and present materials in an effective and pragmatic manner
  • Proficient project management skills with a focus on managing multiple priorities and delivering on-time high-quality results
  • Strong leadership competencies including demonstrated success in building and sustaining relationships with internal customers and colleagues and comprehensive change management experience

TECHNICAL SKILLS

  • Deep understanding of all Federal, Provincial, and Territorial OH&S related legislation, regulations and standards
  • Established experience with SiteDocs Safety Management Software

Responsibilities:

Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Engage and collaborate with regional JHSCs, to identify and resolve safety issues and exposures on a prioritized proactive basis, and to promote safety excellence and consistency in operations
  • Maintenance, execution, and improvement of RJC’s safety program including risk management, incident investigations and training programs across the firm
  • Create RJC’s health and safety protocols and define the expectations on behalf of RJC
  • Establish best practices and performance standards in operations by evolving the management systems and safety culture to achieve sustainable and industry leading performance
  • Maintain COR Auditor status, perform annual internal audits and support the coordination, execution and follow-up required for external audits
  • Coach employees and leaders to improve safety leadership skills and act as a resource for the Health and Safety Program
  • Lead all incident investigations to determine root cause, and support the corrective action process to ensure implementation and proper closure
  • Safety record keeping, analysis of incidents, and producing statistical reports on Health and Safety performance and trends
  • Establish, maintain, and enhance working relationships with stakeholders, including regulators who have jurisdiction over operations
  • Responsible for managing all workers’ compensation claims including submission and acting as the liaison between employee and workers compensation board case managers, arranging for appropriate modified work agreements (if required)
  • Responsible for leading WCB and Workplace accidents and investigation
