Job Posting:
The Health & Safety Specialist will lead initiatives at the bakery level through a culture of safety, core metrics and proactive solutions. Actively working with key stakeholders within the organization to identify and assess conditions that could produce accidents or incidents and then collaboratively prepare and recommend corrective actions with business leaders. The EHS Specialist will be the overall champion of the Bakery Environmental, Health and Safety System.
Depending on your experience level, the salary range for this is:
$70,000 - $90,000 per annum

REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum 3-5 years’ experience in Health and Safety
  • Excellent interpersonal /communication skills
  • Proven competency in fostering a Health & Safety environment
  • Manufacturing experience required

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure Occupational Health and Safety compliance with health and safety laws and regulations.
  • Be available to resolve issues and spend time coaching on the production floor.
  • Provide advice regarding the development of safe and healthy practices.
  • Be up to date with new legislation and maintain a working knowledge of all H&S legislation and any developments.
  • Assist in the investigation and resolution of incidents including root-cause analysis and provide probable causes of incidents and recommendations for resolution and appropriate corrective and preventative measures.
  • Attend all JHSC meetings facilitated by the business partner as an Advisor.
  • Work with our agency partners to share best practices related to H&S and jointly manage the return to work program.
  • Coordinates the implementation of corrective and preventative measures.
  • Assist with incident investigations, near-miss reporting, job hazard analysis, and recommend actions in order to ensure compliance.
  • Assists in the identification and analysis of trends. Communicate observations and provide suggestions for incident reduction measures.
  • Investigate/research; recommend and implement Health & Safety Best Practices.
  • Produce statistics for leaders regarding accidents.
  • Undertake risk assessments, and site inspections and identify potential hazards.
  • Lead in-house training with the operations team to address health and safety issues and risks and transfer knowledge.
  • Manage the Workers’ Compensation program, claims, and modified return to work program.
  • Schedule appointments with injured/ill team members to understand their requirements.
  • Work with department leaders and T&D Business Partners to determine alternate duties and return schedules.
