Description:
We are looking for enthusiastic, hard-working and approachable individuals who are dedicated to providing high standards of holistic, quality care to join our team within the Emergency Department as a Health Care Support Worker.
As a Health Care Support Worker in our Emergency Department, you will be at the heart of delivering essential care and support to patients during times of critical need. This is a highly rewarding role where you will assist in providing emergency care, ensuring that patients and their families receive the best possible experience in sometimes challenging and fast-paced circumstances.
In this role, you will be expected to demonstrate empathy, professionalism and dedication in every aspect of your work. You’ll support a multidisciplinary team in caring for patients with a wide range of conditions, contributing to the assessment, treatment, and monitoring of patients. By joining our Emergency Department, you will play an important role in a team committed to delivering compassionate, patient-centered care.
Carry out assigned tasks in delivering and supporting direct and indirect patient care under the supervision of Registered Nurses.
Demonstrate a courteous and helpful approach to patients, relatives, and visitors to the department.
Keep clinical areas clean and tidy, maintaining a safe and pleasant environment while contributing to the control of infection in clinical work areas.
Assist in the monitoring and restocking of supplies, promoting effective and efficient use of resources.
Carry out assigned clerical tasks as directed.
Report untoward incidents, accidents, and any other relevant information to the Department Leader or Registered Nurse.
Whilst under supervision and following appropriate training, perform observations including respirations, blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and oxygen saturation. Record results clearly and accurately, and report any abnormal findings to a registered nurse.
Participate in handling a network of highly complex information, ensuring confidentiality of all patient information.
Adhere to ward procedures for the correct use of equipment and assist in maintaining equipment as directed.
Monitor and replace used items of linen and laundry as necessary.
Escort patients to other areas for further investigation following appropriate assessment by a registered nurse.
