Description:

Your Role at St John of God Subiaco Hospital
The Health Information Services Officer (HIS Officer) provides accurate and timely scanning of health record documents and maintenance of the Scanned Health Record System (SHRS).

The Position

  • Ensures the confidentiality and security of all patient information and medical records from unauthorised access.
  • Accurate and timely scanning of health record documents in the Scanned Health Record System (SHRS).
  • Prepare health records for scanning.
  • Upload electronic documents into the SHRS.
  • Perform quality activities on scanned documents.
  • Correct identified anomalies in the SHRS.
  • Maintains record tracking, filing and archive systems in primary and secondary storage locations.
  • Maintain the medical records storage area(s) through culling/archive, destruction and file maintenance of medical records.
  • Delivery of medical records to locations throughout the Hospital site as necessary.
  • Daily processing of mail and filing of clinical and administrative forms and reports into the patient medical record.
  • Assist with ordering and unpacking of stationary and medical record form supplies required and received by the department.
  • Assist with audits undertaken by the department.
  • Receives and processes requests for patient information from internal and external parties as per Hospital/Group policy.
  • Perform other HIS clerical duties as directed.
  • Participate in the ongoing development and training programs.
  • All other reasonable duties as directed by the Manager Patient Health Information Services.

You will have a commitment to customer service, with well-developed interpersonal and communication skills; both written and verbal, and ability to work and collaborate in a team environment. With strong attention to detail, you will possess accurate and efficient keyboard, computer and data entry skills, and ability to prioritise and multitask to achieve desired results.
To succeed you must be content to sit a PC for long periods of time when scanning or verifying patient records, and little contact with customers. Availability to work a range of shifts as well as extra shifts on occasion is also required.

  • Salary: $64,355 to $69,469, plus 11% superannuation
  • A Full Time position, working 76 hours a fortnight.
