POSITION SUMMARY:

The Health Program Coordinator will report to Pure Earth’s Country Director for Colombia and will work closely with field-based staff and project partners in Colombia to support development and implementation of health-related projects. She/He will be responsible for the management of assigned health-related projects, including research activities, partner coordination, work planning, data collection, reporting, and communications support.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in health sciences, Biological Science, or related fields.
  • Minimum 6 years’ general experience.
  • At least 2 recent years coordinating projects.
  • 2 years’ minimum specific experience in Epidemiology/Toxicology/Environmental or Public Health Projects.
  • Computer skills and good working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills: Must be able to produce detailed reports.
  • Bilingual (English – Spanish)

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master’s degree in public health, Biological Science, or related field.
  • Experience working with the Health Government Agencies of Colombia and understanding of the health system in Colombia.
  • Experience in biomonitoring fieldwork: collection and management of biological samples (blood)
  • Experience in the implementation of international cooperation projects.
  • Knowledge of statistical software/data analysis software.
  • Knowledge of laboratory techniques in health

Responsibilities:

  • Providing support for any health-related project activity and research including desk and literature review, key informant interviews, and surveys. He/she will also design and review research materials and produce briefing and synthesis documents/reports for meetings and technical consultations. She/he will also support IRB ethics applications and reporting.
  • Coordinating the technical advisory group, maintaining communication with group members, documenting consultations, identifying research questions, and sharing information.
  • Supporting preparation for the implementation of health-related project activities and research, including communicating with program and research partners, maintaining timelines and documentation of such activities, and planning and supporting project implementation.
  • Ensuring that best practices for health and safety protocols are in place and observed in all project sites.
  • Developing a framework for identifying and exploring opportunities for cross-sectoral work on addressing childhood lead poisoning at regional and national level.
  • Overseeing relevant project coordination and partner collaboration to ensure timely communication, data collection, information sharing, and implementation.
  • Coordinating and supporting work planning, budgeting, and reporting.
  • Assisting in the preparation and monitoring of contractual agreements with organizations, consultants, and field staff as needed for health-related project activities and research; monitoring, reviewing, and facilitating approval of invoices.
  • Facilitating efficient communication with donors, partners, and consultants; establishing and implementing systems for partner, consultant, and field communication.
  • Participating in communication of the project’s vision, activities, and research results; developing/reviewing external-facing presentations, website content, blogs, briefs, and reports; and
  • Other tasks as deemed necessary by the Country Director.
