Description:

Under s25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991, there is a genuine occupational requirement that applicants are Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander personsThe role will- Support and contribute to the development, coordination, implementation, and evaluation of preventive health/health promotion initiatives, policies and services that promote and protect the health and wellbeing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander girls and women.- Support collaboration with key stakeholders to progress culturally appropriate preventive health interventions in priority settings to reach rural and metropolitan Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander girls and women. - Identify, collate, analyse and convey information to a range of stakeholders including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander organisations, peoples, and communities to support preventive health policy decision making.- Prepare and provide advice to guide the practical application of contemporary evidence and theory in planning, implementing and evaluating preventive health policy and interventions in a range of settings. The successful personYou will have demonstrated:

  • Strategic planning and project management skills or ability to rapidly acquire skills relevant to the development, implementation and evaluation of state-wide preventive health / health promotion interventions for Aboriginal and Torres Strait islander women and girls.- Experience critically analysing data and information and providing evidence-based advice to colleagues, senior management and other stakeholders on preventive health issues for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women and girls.- Effective verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to work as part of a team, communicate confidently through correspondence, briefings, committees, negotiation and consultations.- High motivation with a flexible approach to work, including willingness to participate in cross program initiatives to address crucial issues

Mandatory qualifications, registrations and other requirements- The successful applicant must hold at least a tertiary degree in Health Promotion or Public Health. Appointment to this position requires proof of qualification. Certified copies of the required information must be provided to the appropriate supervisor/manager, prior to the commencement of duties.- Under s25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991, there is a genuine occupational requirement for the incumbent to be Indigenous to the Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander Community.- Given the statewide remit of the team that this role is part of there will be intrastate travel requirements.
