Hôpital Glengarry Memorial Hospital (HGMH) is a patient-centred primary care hospital that has been established in Alexandria, Ontario for over 50 years. HGMH provides acute care, complex continuing care, 24-hour emergency services, and rehabilitation to over 23,000 residents every year. Our team includes over 180 staff members, 50 Medical Staff members and 100 volunteers who all take pride in bringing quality health care to our local Eastern Ontario community.

REQUIREMENTS
- Graduate from a recognized Health Information Management (HIM) program.
- Certified member in good standing with the Canadian College of Health Information Management (CCHIM).
- Working knowledge of the Canadian Coding Standards and ICD-10-CA/CCI coding.
- Ability to meet coding and abstracting productivity standards as specified by Manager.
- Ability to work independently as well as a team player.
- Demonstrated independent ability to prioritize and work to tight timelines.
- Computer experience with Word, Excel, Outlook and report writing.
- Bilingualism (English and French) an asset.

Responsibilities:
POSITION PURPOSE
Responsible for researching codes and abstracting medical information to determine that accurate, complete and billable codes are provided for Emergency Room and Day Surgery visits at HGMH. Identifies and reports coding opportunities and recommendations for improvement. Monitors and reports trend and escalates discrepancies to management while maintaining patient information confidentiality.
