Description:
Reporting to the Director Health Information Management/Patient Resources, the incumbent will be responsible for coding and electronically abstracting in-patient, surgical day care and Emergency visits utilizing ICD-10-CA/ CCI. Responsible for adhering to policies and procedures in compliance with CIHI and Ministry of Health (MOH) coding standards and guidelines. Travel between sites may be required. Shift rotations are subject to change.
QUALIFICATIONS:
o Graduate from an approved Health Information Management/Administrator Program
o One year recent experience in ICD-10-CA inpatient and NACRS coding
o Current active CHIMA member in good standing and maintained on an annual basis
o Demonstrates a proficient level of understanding with regard to Case Mix Methodology
o Knowledgeable and proficient with various applications including WinRecs, Meditech, Folio, CIHI E-query
o Working knowledge of Microsoft applications
o Demonstrated ability to handle a large and diversified workload with often rapidly changing priorities and challenging deadlines
o Demonstrated commitment to patient/client centred care
o Compliance with confidential requirements under the Niagara Health System Privacy Policy
o Demonstrated professional and informative attitude while interacting with the public, patients, employees and medical staff
o Strong organizational skills with a high degree of accuracy
o Must be available for all shifts, vacation replacement, sick time and paid holidays
o Travel to other NH sites required
o Consistent and regular attendance required
o Proficiency in both official languages (English & French) will be considered an asset
