JOB SUMMARY:

Reporting to the Senior Director, HR, the incumbent is responsible for the prevention and Health and Safety (H&S) component of the Head Office, the Distribution Centre, and the 300 stores in Canada and the United States. They are also responsible for workplace health and well-being programs, serve as a reference in prevention matters, and investigate disability cases. They coordinate and organize H&S committees for the stores and the Distribution Centre, and provide H&S training. Lastly, this person acts as an expert advisor for the organization of various intervention protocols as well as the application and interpretation of policies, procedures, and best practices.

QUALIFICATIONS:



    • Bachelor’s in Human Resources or H&S;

    • 5+ years of experience in the prevention and management of workplace accidents cases;
    • Canada-wide experience in H&S management (an asset).
      Other skills and/or aptitudes required:


      • Extensive knowledge of best practices related to H&S and disability management;

      • Knowledge of H&S laws in Canada;
      • Highly analytical and able to make decisions based on facts and challenges;
      • Proven teamwork skills that build positive, solid, and lasting work relationships;
      • Good communication and presentation skills;
      • Excellent Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills;
      • Bilingual (French and English) written and spoken.

      Responsibilities:

      Case management
      -
      - Conduct workplace investigations on safety hazards, incidents, and accidents, and implement corrective actions;
      - Implement and monitor H&S performance indicators (quarterly reports);
      - Act as the employer’s representative with various organizations as needed (CNESST, provincial WCBs, and U.S. insurers);
      - Follow up on the claims aspect of ongoing injury cases (reporting, investigation, analysis, implementation of corrective measures, application of temporary assignment, etc.).
      Prevention
      -
      - Train and support Managers in prevention, risk identification, and the implementation of and compliance with good H&S practices;
      - Implement activities to raise employees’ awareness of H&S and encourage the adoption of safe behaviours;
      - Assess the risks of the organization’s departments and make recommendations on the best work practices to adopt;
      - Carry out audits on the completeness of inspection reports in-store;
      - Visit and inspect work sites (Head Office, stores, and the Distribution Centre) from time to time to collect feedback on operations and/or to support H&S measures.
      Compliance
      -
      - Participate in the deployment and implementation of various H&S programs and procedures, and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements;
      - Ensure orderly H&S committee meetings and that provincial requirements are met;
      - Ensure compliance with organizational H&S policies and procedures, and contribute to the improvement of work processes.
