Currently, we have an exciting opportunity for a Health, Safety and Environmental Advisor to join our expanding survey team, based in the heart of the southwest of the UK.

ABOUT YOU

  • Excellent verbal and written English. (If professional level report writing skills are required, please specifically detail in the job description).
  • NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent.
  • Full driving licence
  • Experience within the marine, offshore, environmental or construction industries.
  • Experience with Incident Investigation and reporting
  • Experience with technically challenging projects (preferably within marine operations).
  • Good knowledge of HSE legislation, regulations, standards and industry HSSEQ requirements and best practice, particularly with high-risk activities such as lifting operations and vessel-based operations.
  • Knowledge of CDM 2015 regulations and the implementation on offshore projects.
  • Strong understanding and implementation of risk assessments
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Systematic and methodical approach with fine attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritise fluctuations in workload.
  • Flexibility to travel occasionally for site visits and client meetings.

Responsibilities:

Are you a HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment,) professional, with experience in the marine and offshore industries looking for an exciting opportunity to make a significant impact in a rapidly growing company? If so, we are seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic HSE Advisor, passionate about promoting and implementing a strong safety culture and ensuring compliance with industry standards.

Based at our office in the southwest UK, and reporting to the Head of Operations & HSSEQ, the HSE Advisor will play a vital role in ensuring the health, safety and environmental standards across our entire operation. You will work with our Operations Management Team to develop, and maintain effective HSE policies, procedures, and programs, working with the team to ensure implementation of our client requirements to the highest standards. This will be achieved through comprehensive safe systems of work, provision of training, monitoring, audit and inspection, and by retaining the ISO 45001 Occupational Health & Safety Management Standard.

  • Drive a culture of safety excellence and promote a proactive approach to HSE throughout the organisation.
  • Continually improve our integrated HSE management system in line with international standards and best practices.
  • Support the Head of HSSEQ with the monitoring and assessment of HSE performance to produce statistical reports to identify areas of improvement and suggested corrective actions
  • Co-ordinate and attend health and safety committee meetings, provide advice as necessary. And prepare and circulate agenda and minutes.
  • Advise on the implementation of risk assessments and safe methods of operation, supporting staff to conduct risk assessments, and review where required.
  • Participate and collaborate in the planning, drafting and implementation of HAZOP, HAZID and HIRA meetings
  • Assist in the investigation of incidents, identify root causes, and implement preventive measures to minimize the recurrence of incidents using our H&S software My Compliance Management
  • Monitor and research new health and safety legislation and best practice, giving guidance through engagement sessions with directors, managers, and employees to further enable constructive discussion and HSE improvements. Liaise with clients, on HSE matters.
  • Support the Head of HSSEQ where required with any regulatory authority intervention.
  • Conduct regular audits and inspections to ensure compliance with HSE policies and standards and produce records of findings for suggested improvements.
  • Co-ordinate the first aid provision and ensure sufficient qualified persons and supplies are available at all the Council premises including the vehicle depot.
  • Support HR where appropriate in relation to mental health and wellbeing of staff.
  • Improve HSE procedures to monitor compliance of sub-contractors and identify interventions where required.
  • Support onshore and pre-mobilisation vessel-based safety meetings.
