We are seeking a dynamic and proactive Health & Safety and HR Officer to join our team and play a pivotal role in maintaining a safe, compliant, and positive working environment.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Proven experience in a Health & Safety and HR role, preferably within the timber or manufacturing industry.
- NEBOSH Certificate or equivalent Health & Safety qualification.
- CIPD qualification (desirable) or strong HR experience advantageous.
- Thorough knowledge of health, safety, employment legislation, and ISO 9001 Quality Management requirements.
- Experience in procurement processes and supplier management is an advantage.
- Knowledge of chain of custody management, FORS audits, and tachograph compliance is desirable.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent problem-solving and organizational abilities.
Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and monitor Health & Safety policies and procedures in compliance with legal requirements and industry standards, including ISO 9001 Quality Management.
- Conduct regular risk assessments, site inspections, and internal and external audits to identify potential hazards, recommend corrective actions, and ensure compliance is completed on time and thoroughly.
- Liaise with and update management on compliance status, safety issues, and improvement measures.
- Perform regular inspections of fleet, plant, and machinery to ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.
- Deliver health and safety training sessions to staff, promoting a strong safety culture.
- Manage accident and incident investigations, ensuring timely reporting and follow-up actions.
- Oversee HR functions including recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, and performance management. Ensure compliance with employment laws and company policies.
- Manage the chain of custody, ensuring compliance with all legal standards.
- Conduct FORS audits and ensure tachograph compliance.
- Support line managers with disciplinary and grievance processes.
- Manage procurement activities, ensuring cost-effective purchasing and supplier compliance with company standards.
- Perform ad hoc duties as required to support the smooth operation of the business.
- Maintain accurate records related to Health & Safety and HR activities.
