We are seeking a dynamic and proactive Health & Safety and HR Officer to join our team and play a pivotal role in maintaining a safe, compliant, and positive working environment.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Proven experience in a Health & Safety and HR role, preferably within the timber or manufacturing industry.
  • NEBOSH Certificate or equivalent Health & Safety qualification.
  • CIPD qualification (desirable) or strong HR experience advantageous.
  • Thorough knowledge of health, safety, employment legislation, and ISO 9001 Quality Management requirements.
  • Experience in procurement processes and supplier management is an advantage.
  • Knowledge of chain of custody management, FORS audits, and tachograph compliance is desirable.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent problem-solving and organizational abilities.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and monitor Health & Safety policies and procedures in compliance with legal requirements and industry standards, including ISO 9001 Quality Management.
  • Conduct regular risk assessments, site inspections, and internal and external audits to identify potential hazards, recommend corrective actions, and ensure compliance is completed on time and thoroughly.
  • Liaise with and update management on compliance status, safety issues, and improvement measures.
  • Perform regular inspections of fleet, plant, and machinery to ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.
  • Deliver health and safety training sessions to staff, promoting a strong safety culture.
  • Manage accident and incident investigations, ensuring timely reporting and follow-up actions.
  • Oversee HR functions including recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, and performance management. Ensure compliance with employment laws and company policies.
  • Manage the chain of custody, ensuring compliance with all legal standards.
  • Conduct FORS audits and ensure tachograph compliance.
  • Support line managers with disciplinary and grievance processes.
  • Manage procurement activities, ensuring cost-effective purchasing and supplier compliance with company standards.
  • Perform ad hoc duties as required to support the smooth operation of the business.
  • Maintain accurate records related to Health & Safety and HR activities.
