Cyclone Gabrielle has had a significant and long lasting impact on the infrastructure, environment and communities in our region. This is why HBRC is boosting the capacity in our dedicated teams of experts who are actively engaged in recovery work – so that we can deliver for our communities and our environment.
As part of our expansion and reconstruction efforts, we are seeking a passionate and experienced Health, Safety & Wellbeing Advisor to join our team to promote and embed a strong HS&W culture across the work we are undertaking. This work is diverse and interesting, offering a rare opportunity to be part of a flood network redesign for an entire region, work that will continue to unfold over the next ten years. These projects will make a real difference for Hawke’s Bay; being a part of these exciting initiatives will bring you immense job satisfaction and a feeling of true achievement.
You will support us to achieve our health, safety and wellbeing objectives and ensure legislative compliance so that all of our team go home safe at the end of each day. A breadth of knowledge across the full spectrum of HS&W is required, along with the ability to educate, coach and continuously look for improvement opportunities ensuring all risks are identified and managed along the way.

ABOUT US | E PĀ KI A MĀTOU:

At Hawke’s Bay Regional Council our purpose is to work with our community to protect and manage the region’s precious taonga of rivers, lakes, soils, air, coast and biodiversity for health, wellbeing and connectivity. Our organisation is diverse, and our work is varied. Our structure comprises of six key business units; Corporate Services, Integrated Catchment Management, Asset Management, Māori Partnerships, Policy & Regulation, and the Executive Advisory Group which also consists of the Civil Defence and Emergency Management.

Responsibilities:

  • At least 5+ years relevant experience in a similar role/industry
  • Appropriate tertiary qualification / post graduate studies / professional body certification / registration
  • Experience in delivery of large civil and earthworks preferred
  • In depth knowledge of H&S legislation, particularly the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015
  • Resilience, adaptability, and flexibility to keep up with the ever-changing nature of HBRC
