Health, Safety, and Wellness Specialist
Status: Full Time
Hours: Monday to Friday; 35 hours/week
Home Campus: Fennell (Travel to other campuses as needed)
Pay Band: 10
Salary Range: $83,442 - $104,303

QUALIFICATIONS:

The successful applicant will have:

  • A minimum of 4 Year Degree in Allied Health with a specialization in mental health
  • Five years of progressive experience in Health and Safety, Wellness and Psychological Safety
  • Demonstrated experience collaborating with diverse teams and internal clients to identify needs and designing and delivering solutions
  • Experience in developing and updating training/education materials in various areas of wellness including psychological safety
  • Knowledge of the Psychological Safety in the Workplace Canadian Standards Association (CSA) Standard Z1003-13
  • Certification in Psychological Safety/Workplace Mental Health would be considered an asset
  • Certified trainer in Mental Health First Aid would be considered an asset
  • Knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and related Canadian Standard Association (CSA) Standards
  • A designation in OHS such as Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) would be considered an asset.
  • Experience in developing and implementing an Ergonomic Safety Program including training, tools and standard operating procedures and completing ergonomic assessments and physical demands analysis
  • Experience working in a unionized environment with Joint H&S Committees and Wellness Committees
  • Time management and organizational skills
  • Communication, negotiation, facilitation and conflict resolution skills
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Demonstrated commitment and understanding of human rights, equity, diversity and inclusion with the ability to communicate and work effectively inter-culturally with diverse groups of students, employees and the community
