As an HSE Specialist here at Honeywell, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the highest standards of health, safety, and environmental practices within our organization. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement HSE programs, policies, and procedures. Your expertise in risk assessment, incident investigation, and regulatory compliance will contribute to the overall safety and well-being of our employees and the environment.
You will report directly to our HSE Manager and you’ll work out of our Mississauga, ON.
This position is responsible for supporting an effective HSE management system that will ensure ongoing compliance with Honeywell’s HSE standards and regulatory requirements, while improving site HSE culture. The HSE Specialist will actively collaborate with internal business partners to provide HSE guidance, technical support, and coordinate activities and processes across the site.

Responsibilities:

  • Support Honeywell’s Aerospace Health, Safety and Environment Management Systems (ISO 45001 and ISO 14001).
  • Partner with business leaders and employees to continuously improve HSE competence, culture, awareness and accountability, in support of site and business group HSE objectives.
  • Utilize six-sigma tools and behavior-based safety strategies to guide injury prevention efforts.
  • Support incident investigations, determine root cause, develop corrective actions, and conduct closure verification activities. Monitor trends and champion injury/illness reduction.
  • Support HSE inspections, self-assessments and audits. Manage reports and present summaries to management with recommended solutions. Manage corrective action closure.
  • Provide expertise during concept and design phases of manufacturing processes to ensure that sound HSE control methodologies are integrated into design.
  • Coordinate and manage critical HSE programs, such as confined space, lockout/tagout, electrical safety, fall protection, hazardous waste management, etc., and work to continuously improve integration of processes across the site.
  • Coordinate safety assessments, and deploy corrective measures to continuously reduce site hazard risk profile.
  • Evaluate the health/safety and environmental impact, and evaluate potential exposures, of using new chemicals and processes prior to introduction to site.
  • Coordinate and conduct employee HSE training activities.
  • Serve as liaison with third-party assessors and regulatory agencies.
  • Lead the site Emergency Response Team.
  • Support the Joint Health and Safety Committee.
  • Assume the role of Radiation Safety Officer (RSO) or Alternate RSO, ensuring site compliance with Federal and Provincial radiation safety regulations.
