BW Epic Kosan owns and operates a fleet of 58 modern and high quality fully pressurised, semi-refrigerated and ethylene capable gas carriers providing seaborne services for the transportation of liquified petroleum gas (LPG), petrochemicals and other speciality gases. We are headquartered in Singapore, with offices in Copenhagen, Manila and Tokyo. Our vessels serve as a crucial link in the international gas supply chains of leading oil majors and commodity trading houses throughout Southeast Asia, the Middle East, Europe, West Africa and the Americas. We employ approximately 2000 seafarers and a multi-national team of 200 shore-based staff.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Degree in Engineering or Nautical Science or equivalent disciplines, preferably with minimum 2 years of sailing experience as a 2nd Engineer / Chief Engineer or Chief Officer / Master
  • Minimum 30 months experience in Gas carriers.
  • Technologically driven, comfortable working in a digital environment, logical process development.
  • Ability to travel at short notice - and manage a 24/7 on call lifestyle (outside vacations).
  • An in-depth knowledge of the rules and regulations governing vessels’ management.
  • Committed and responsible in meeting deadlines with excellent time management skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Reporting to Fleet Manager, HSEQ & Compliance
  • Conduct Compliance audits on ships. Identify areas for improvement and verify implementation of the corrective and preventive actions in coordination with Ship Managers.
  • During stay on ship closely observe that ship staff carrying out the required procedures and as per assigned routines at right time. Importance to be given on proper procedure, rather than just paper filling exercise. Ensure the ship’s staff are fully aware of their responsibilities, the company routines and procedures and that these are followed.
  • Ensure that vessel is being Managed and safely operated in accordance with the Company’s IMS procedures and in compliance with the Local, National/ International statutory, regulatory and mandatory rules and regulations.
  • Actively participate in various Safety Campaigns (both in support creating campaigns and implement o/b).
  • Conduct Safety, Environmental and Security drills onboard to assess effectiveness.
  • Verify onboard Planned Maintenance System (PMS) processes are carried out correct usage of Risk Assessment processes, Toolbox meetings, in general adequate maintenance standards are executed o/b.
  • Identify Weak signals related to safety and compliance and suggest corrective / preventative measures.
  • Carry out Training onboard to close out knowledge gaps on safety matters.
  • Analyze reports, such as Safety, Incident/accident reports, Management Inspection reports and other such reports. Where required, advise vessels on matters related to Marine activities.
  • Evaluate and appraise all shipboard personnel on their Performance, Safety, Health, Environmental and Service quality, especially from a Safety / Compliance perspective.
  • Identify training requirements for sea staff. Debrief sea staff on various issues regarding compliance of procedures.
  • Continually evaluate the audit process and give unbiased and constructive advice and guidance, keeping focus on health check of vessel, to strengthen and improve the overall Audit process.
  • Suggest implementing preventive measures to Ship Managers to avoid the reoccurrence of machinery and equipment breakdown.
  • Support the implementation of evolving changes to the SOLAS, MARPOL, STCW, Class, Flag State, Oil Major and other applicable requirements on vessels.
  • Closely interact with the Tech and SHEQ team ashore in improving the level of safety by continually improving the IMS processes and safe running of the vessel. Maintain close relationship with all departments within the company to ensure smooth operation of vessel in the fleet.
  • Assist Vetting & Quality Manager and the Head of Marine Assurance on matters related to marine and safety issues on vessels. Conduct investigation of incidents/ accidents onboard as advised by the Technical Director/ Head of Marine Assurance /Fleet Manager, HSEQ and Compliance and HSE Manager.
