You are a HS&E Advisor who will play a vital role in implementing professional health and safety practices at project sites. You provide expert advice and recommendations to operations teams and clients on health and safety matters. You will enhance and develop Job Hazard Assessment (JHA) and Safe Work Practice documents while supporting operations personnel in achieving Ledcor’s “Leading Indicator” requirements. Essential Responsibilities:
- Conduct work area inspections, meet with field supervisors to address potential issues, and ensure adequate safety equipment and supplies are available
- Monitor environmental hazards such as noise and toxic agents, ensuring compliance with safety standards
- Provide field supervisors and employees with guidance on HS&E-related issues and deliver safety orientation and training as needed
- Collaborate with the HS&E manager and coordinators to develop, revise, and implement safety procedures, standards, and regulations
- Educate and mentor field supervisors on safety program implementation and foster strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers
- Verify and update HS&E plans, safe work processes, and hazard assessments as project scopes evolve, supporting site leadership with forward planning
- Assist in incident investigations to identify root causes and support leadership in developing corrective actions to promote continuous improvement
- Monitor and report on the effectiveness of project-specific HS&E plans and audit the quality of hazard assessments and incident reports
- Provide support to site leadership in preparing materials for safety meetings and toolbox talks
Qualifications:
- 3+ years of experience in construction or a related industry, with a strong understanding of safety practices
- Certificate or Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety; CRSP, CSO, or NCSO designation is an asset
- Technical knowledge of common construction practices, techniques, and equipment
- Exceptional communication and presentation skills with the ability to engage effectively with all levels of the workforce
- Proactive approach to safety, including identifying issues and implementing solutions
- Proven experience in risk assessment, program development, training, and incident investigation
- Proficiency in MS Word, PowerPoint, and Excel, with the ability to adapt communication styles to various audiences
- Strong team player who can manage changing priorities and demands effectively
- Valid provincial driver’s license and clean driver’s abstract
- Successful completion of pre-employment drug and alcohol testing
