Description:
An exciting opportunity has arisen within ALDI’s Health and Safety Team, to join in the position of Health and Safety Specialist.
Our Health and Safety teams provide operational support on all matters relating to health & safety, fire safety, food safety and trading law across the Regional Distribution Centre, Transport, Store Operations, Real Estate and Office functions to ensure health & safety is kept to the highest of standards throughout the Region.
As a Specialist you will champion a positive safety culture across the business, you’ll need to keep calm under pressure, be solution focused, be full of initiative and have excellent stakeholder management, communication and organisational skills.
Please note occasional night / weekend work may be required for this role.
Responsibilities:
- Providing operational support and direction on all matters relating to health & safety, fire safety, food safety and trading law across the Regional Warehouse, Transport, Store Operations, Real Estate and Office and National Department functions.
- To continually improve ALDI’s Health & Safety Management System; reducing risk and complying with legal obligations in a manner that is practical and proportionate to the requirements of the business.
- Liaises third party service providers who deliver health & safety, fire safety, food safety and trading law related services in their Region, including the Primary Authority.
- Liaises with third party service providers including contractors with respect to health, safety and fire risks as required
- Reviews the implementation of a robust health & safety, fire safety, food safety and trading law performance monitoring regime within their area of responsibility and reports on performance.
- Conducts Store Risk Assessments, Workplace Transport Risk Assessment and Fire Risk Assessments
- Conducts audits and inspections according to the agreed frequency across various stores and RDCs
- Undertakes investigations of any major work related incidents (reportable incidents) and advises on any required injury/ harm prevention programmes.
- Advises teams on the investigation of non-reportable incidents to ensure that causes of incidents are identified and acted upon in a proportionate manner
- Responds to third party and local authority queries in relation to regulatory challenges
- All applicants must hold a full driving licence and have access to their own vehicle in order to complete field based work.
