SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:

  • Strong knowledge in health and safety
  • Demonstrates a reasonable level of computer literacy and show familiarity with current and application learning technology
  • Possess a high level of spoken and written literacy as well as practice excellent communication skills; demonstrate the ability to manage student and parent relationships
  • Ability to maintain discretion and absolute confidentiality
  • Ability to become CPR/AED certified within 60 days of hire if not currently certified

Education and Experience:

  • 3 years of job related experience
  • 2 years in the medical field - preferred
  • CNA preferred

Responsibilities:

SUMMARY OF PRIMARY PURPOSE:

The Health Technician administers first aid and supervises student with self-administering of prescribed medications in accordance with laws, regulation, procedures and policies. Assist with student care and maintaining confidential student health records.

Essential Roles & Responsibilities, included but not limited to:

  • Resolve immediate safety and/or health concerns, minimize transmission of infection.
  • Administer emergency first aid, (e.g. CPR, AED, low blood sugar, asthma, injuries, etc.) and acute medical and/or safety services or needs.
  • Coordinate various onsite screening for students/staff, including annual CPR training for staff, and serve as a resource on health topics.
  • Supervise student within the health room to monitor student for illness and or observation.
  • Maintain security of school health office supplies and facilities.
  • Communicate educational or informational materials with teachers, students and/or parents via newsletter articles or other methods.
  • Return self-administered medications to students or parents as appropriate at year-end.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding matter related to students, parents, faculty and administration.
  • Collect, compile and maintain a confidential database to track students’ needs (e.g. medical emergency contacts, medical alert status, allergies/EpiPen, immunization records, sports physicals, health concerns, medication logs, daily illness/injury logs, etc.) incompliance with school requirements and state laws.
  • Prepare a variety of materials (e.g. spreadsheets, logs, notices, reports, letters to parents, etc.) to ensure compliance with documentation requirements, regulations, and or communicating information.
  • Respond professionally and in a timely manner to student, parent or staff requests and needs.
  • Attend school devotions, staff meetings and events deemed necessary by the Principal including professional development.
  • Follow all school policies and procedures as set forth by Leaders of the School/Church.
  • May support the development of policies, procedures, and work standards for a school health program to handbooks, databases, processes etc. for efficiency and compliance.
