Description:

The Princess Royal University Hospital Stroke unit is one of the eight regional Stroke Centres in London, and it is an integrated 40 bed unit, with 14 Hyper Acute Stroke beds and 26 Acute rehabilitation beds. We are aiming to recruit Health Care Assistants who have care experience in NHS or social care setting.
The successful candidate should be a naturally caring person, hardworking, reliable, have a very high standard of work, and go the extra mile. You will be part of a dedicated team that provides highly specialised stroke care that focuses on meeting holistic needs of patients and families. It can be clinically challenging but a rewarding experience.

Day to day, you’ll work under the supervision of our registered staff to help:

  • Wash and dress patients
  • Monitor and record clinical observations
  • Support patients to eat and drink
  • Help patients move around
  • Make beds and maintain a clean, safe clinical area
  • Talk to patients and their families
  • Manage stock levels for linen and other supplies

The role involves shift work (early shifts, late shifts, long days, nights and weekends) so the ability to work these shifts is essential.

Qualifications and skills
Functional Skills Level 1 in Numeracy and Literacy or GCSEs Maths and English Grades A-E or 9-2.
Evidence of being able to work well with other members of the team including communicating effectively, being kind and considerate, reliable and enthusiastic
Evidence of good customer care skills/working with others in a supportive manne
