Job Title: Healthcare Assistant
Location: UME Health, 17 Harley Street, London, W1G9QH
Reports To: Senior Nurse
Salary: Based on experience
Hours: Full-Time. Monday to Friday (Occasional Saturdays).
Clinic Hours Monday to Friday- 8am- 8pm.
Saturdays (if required)- 9am- 5pm.
Main Purpose of the Job: To collaborate with the Clinicians, Nursing Staff and Radiographers to ensure optimum delivery of service; this will involve administrative and clinical duties. The Healthcare Assistant (HCA) will play a crucial role in supporting clinical staff in delivering high-quality patient care in a private diagnostic clinic. The role involves assisting with diagnostic procedures, including venipuncture and ECG monitoring, and providing administrative support for clinical audits.

Key Responsibilities :

Ensure that a professional service is always maintained in compliance with UME Diagnostics core values, guidelines and objectives. This will include:

  • Support Clinicians in clinical consulting sessions.
  • Venepuncture: Perform venepuncture to obtain blood samples as required for diagnostic purposes.
  • ECG Monitoring: Performing and recording Electrocardiograms (ECGs), ensuring accurate results are captured.
  • Fitting non-invasive cardiology monitors – Programming, fitting and downloading ECG Holter and 24-hour Ambulatory Blood Pressure monitors (training can be provided if required).
  • Cannulation (Desirable): Assist with or perform cannulation for patients, as needed (training can be provided if required).
  • Patient Monitoring: Monitoring of patients using diagnostic equipment, ensuring accurate readings and patient comfort.
  • Audit Administration: Support clinical audits by gathering, recording, and organizing data in line with clinic protocols.
  • Patient Care: Assist with patient preparation for procedures and ensure patients are comfortable before, during, and after their diagnostics, including chaperoning patients when requested.
  • Equipment Management: Ensure all diagnostic equipment is maintained, cleaned, and prepared for use according to clinic guidelines.
  • Administrative Support: Help with general administration duties, including managing patient records, appointment scheduling, and maintaining inventory for clinical supplies.
  • Health & Safety Compliance: Adhere to health and safety regulations to maintain a safe environment for patients and staff.
  • To accurately enter relevant data on to the RIS system
  • To accurately capture procedures undertaken in rooms onto the charge sheets
  • Adhere to company policy, procedure, and compliance.
  • Conduct work and duties as workload may require.
  • Consult with and support the line manager in the delivery of service.
  • Ensure the changing rooms are clean, tidy and have the appropriate change of clothing/screening attire (gowns and dressing gowns) and prepare the changing facilities before and after every patient.

Person Specification
Skills and Experience

Essential:

  • Proven experience in healthcare settings, ideally with venepuncture competency.
  • Ability to perform ECGs and assist with patient monitoring.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail for audit and administrative tasks.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to provide compassionate patient care.
  • Proficient in IT

Desirable:

  • Experience with cannulation (training can be provided).
  • Experience working in a diagnostic or clinical environment.

Qualifications

Essential:

  • NVQ Level 2/3 in Health and Social Care or equivalent.
  • Certification or competency in venepuncture (essential).
  • Minimum educational standard of GCSE or similar level of education

Desirable:

  • Additional training in cannulation or willingness to complete training (desirable).

Responsibilities:

GENERAL DUTIES

  • Report to the Senior Nurse all untoward incidents that occur to patients, staff, or visitors within the Department.
  • To work as a member of the Inter-Professional team.
  • To be flexible in the performance of the post, particularly regarding clinics, hours and site cover, and to carry out any other reasonable duties as requested by senior staff
