The Healthy Bladder and Bowel Nursery Nurse is a valued member of the Bladder and Bowel team engaging with parents carers and a variety of other professionals in a number of settings. Acting as a specialist resource collaborating and working in partnership to promote each child’s maximum potential and independence with their continence needs.
The Healthy Bladder and Bowel Nursery Nurse will work independently using their own initiative, organisational and time management skills. The team is forward thinking and enables members to develop skills whilst providing support and the opportunity to discuss and reflect on practice .
Provide a high standard of clinical care to childre n following the Bladder and Bowel Paediatric P athway.
Recognise that each child is an individual and entitled to be treated as such with their needs respected and their rights followed.
Provide care to individual children on a caseload through re-assessmen t . Independently develop, implement and evaluat e structured toileting programmes using evidenced based advice and information to parents, carers and staff .
Provide specialist advice and education at a high standard of care and to children, and their families to maximise potential for toilet training independence.
Deliver training and education to other professionals .
Provide health promotion education to prevent the difficulties that children can experience with toileting.
Work in partnership with other healthcare professionals and multi-agency workers.
Under supervision of the Clinical Nurse Specialists, work with vulnerable families to improve outcomes .
Be required to work effectively to include verbal, written and electronic media .
U ndertak e further professional training that may be required .
To keep up to date records in line with BHFT policy .

Be an active member of the already well-established and forward-thinking Bladder and Bowel service team
Good understanding of child development and experience of working with families of children with additional needs
Enthusiasm to learn more about bowel and bladder issues in children
Work independently and use initiative
