Heavy Duty Mechanic - Valhalla

Our mechanics are great problem solvers, with a passion for snowcats and the Kootenay backcountry. The Valhalla Heavy Duty Mechanic is responsible for the repairs and maintenance of PistenBully 400 snowcats, BRP Summit/Expedition snowmobiles, pickup trucks and ATV/UTVs.
You will report to the Mountain Operations Manager and work alongside a team of fellow HD mechanics and apprentices. Our team is resourceful and able to handle challenging situations that can sometimes occur in the backcountry, including getting machines unstuck or repaired in the field in a safe and timely manner.

YOU’LL FEEL RIGHT AT HOME IF YOU HAVE GOOD PRACTICAL KNOWLEDGE OF:

• hydrostatic drive systems
• diesel engines
• generators
• snowmobiles
• electrical systems and equipment
• backcountry travel on sleds and side-by-sides
• fieldwork in outdoor winter conditions
• trucking and trailering

OTHER SKILLS THAT PUT THE CHERRY ON THE CAKE:

• shop management including inventory, parts and fleet management
• basic backcountry first aid and avalanche safety
• excellent communication skills
• solid computer skills with fleet management software
• rigging skills
• MIG and ARC Welding skills
• fabrication skills
