QUALIFICATIONS

Education, Experience and Qualifications

  • Some high school education is required, a grade 12 diploma or GED is preferred.

Minimum 2 years’ experience in an open pit mining environment operating one of the following:

  • Haul Truck: Operating Komatsu 830E, 777 haul trucks or similar equipment. The similarity will be determined by CST

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

The following knowledge, skills and abilities are expected:

  • Must be able to work 12-hour day and night shifts; on a 7x7 rotation.
  • Must be able to communicate in English
  • Physically fit with the ability to perform physical labour often at heights.
  • Proven safety and attendance record.
  • Willingness to learn
  • Ability and willingness to work in all weather conditions.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and respectfully with peers, trainees, and leadership.
  • Knowledge of safety procedures/standards.
  • Knowledge of coal production and equipment operation processes.
  • Knowledge of basic equipment maintenance requirements
  • Knowledge of Safety Data Sheets.
  • Knowledge of Basic First Aid and WHMIS.

Responsibilities:

  • Operate heavy equipment in a safe and efficient way, conforming to all relevant legislation, policies, operating manuals and standard operating procedures.
  • Ensure that equipment is maintained in keeping with production targets.
  • Troubleshoot problems, perform minor maintenance as required, and notify the supervisor of any mechanical or production issues throughout the shift.
  • Complete daily reports and time sheets as required.
  • Notify the supervisor immediately of any incident or near-miss and participate in any resulting investigation
  • Perform daily safety and maintenance checks as required.
  • No camp available, you are required to hold residence, on some level, in the town of Grande Cache for the duration of your work rotation.
