JOB REQUIREMENTS

The successful candidate will have a Heavy Equipment Technician Red Seal/Journeyman. In addition an Automotive Service Technician or Agricultural Equipment Technician Journeyman Red seal would be an asset. Necessary skills and attributes to be successful in this role include:

  • An ability to apply different instructional strategies to meet the needs of students with different learning styles.
  • Knowledge of current educational technologies commonly found in classrooms (e.g., videoconferencing, D2L) are desired.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • An entrepreneurial spirit, specifically one who is willing to take a risk to create opportunities.
  • Motivated individual that seeks to continuously improve instruction and meet the need of learners.
  • Willingness to work with and support the Teaching & Learner Centre.
  • Student Focused.
  • Strong organizational skills.

  • Ability to build strong relationships across the organization.
  • A high level of integrity, professionalism, and accountability.

Responsibilities:

THE ROLE

Our Transportation Department is growing and is looking for more Heavy Equipment Technician Instructors in our Apprenticeship program. This is a full-time sessional appointment, starting as soon as possible through to June 20th 2024. Opportunity for Annual position remains availability based on favorable evaluation and budget. Duties include: Prepare and present classes in both theory and practical settings, organize and supervise practical assignments, conduct student evaluations, and maintain necessary paperwork, participate in course, program and curriculum development, as well as maintain contacts. The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in helping students achieve their goals and be able to share their interest in this trade with those students.
