EMPLOYER’S JOB DESCRIPTION
The Maine Community College System (MCCS) is looking for a full-time Help Desk Analyst II position to be located at Central Maine Community College in Auburn, Maine. This position will be responsible for the day-to-day support of technology users at one of Maine’s Community Colleges. The position will answer phone calls, emails, chat messages and in person questions to enable community stakeholders to be successful users of technology in support of the mission of the Maine Community College System and its constituent colleges. Duties may include providing support and education, resetting passwords, installing software, configuring devices, troubleshooting problems and other duties as assigned by the Help Desk Manager.
The Help Desk Analyst II position is currently pending classification within the MSEA Support Services Unit. The required minimum qualifications include up to and including two years of Information Technology and or help desk operations or a related field plus an Associate’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Systems or a related field. Relative experience may be considered in lieu of formal education on a year for year basis.
The required knowledge, skills, and abilities include, but not limited to, the following:
- Ability to coordinate and or perform installations, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of desktop and laptop computers at CMCC, requiring analysis and resolution.
- Ability to keep up to date on current computer technology in order to make informed recommendations regarding policy improvements and future needs in the computer labs, in working with faculty, and shared services staff.
- Ability to plan and assist students and faculty in the labs by demonstrating proper use of the equipment and use of hardware and software.
- Skilled in providing support in the research, development, and maintenance of desktop documentation (how labs are configured).
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
