Description:

1 year fixed term post or Secondment for internal applicants
The Hepatology service within Gastroenterology is offering an excellent opportunity for two enthusiastic nurses to contribute to join the current Hepatology Research Team to further develop research in this service.
This will include the delivery of a number of clinical research projects requiring expertise (with suitable training provided if needed) in multiple aspects of research, ranging from both outpatient and in patient visits to computer-office-based work including data protection and research study planning and set up.
The role will require enthusiasm, commitment and an ability to be self-motivated. The service offers a friendly and supportive working environment along with personal development opportunities.
Applications are invited from nurses who would like to work in clinical research. You must have a minimum of 2 years post-registration experience in an acute setting, and experience of working at a senior level would be advantageous. IT skills are essential and will be required by the post holder.
Successful applicants will have the ability to work independently, manage their own caseload and effectively communicate in various formats. A degree of flexibility is required for this post as the job may require travel, with occasional unsociable hours.
The post holder is responsible for the co-ordination of research projects/clinical trials within Hepatology.

Responsibilities:

  • identification and recruitment of suitable candidates to participate in studies
  • management and facilitation of studies, ensuring data is correctly gathered and recorded
  • co-ordination of the care of patients within the context of the clinical trials
  • adherence to ICH GCP guidelines
  • when required, support of junior colleagues in the effective management of patients in clinical trials
You will be supervised by the Hepatology Research Leads: Lynsey Corless & George Abouda, line-managed by the Trusts Research, Development & Innovation Matron and Senior Research Nurses, and supported by the other Hepatology Research Staff.
A full induction and orientation package will be available to assist successful applicants.
Although the post holder’s primary focus would be within Hepatology Research, there is an expectation that you are also responsive to the research needs of the organisation and may therefore be required to work in other research areas in the Trust.
The Humber Health Partnership is one of the largest acute and community Partnership arrangements in the NHS, seeing well over one million patients every year and managing a budget of over £1.3 billion.
Made up of two Trusts - Northern Lincolnshire and Goole NHS Foundation Trust (NLAG) and Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust (HUTH) - our Partnership has significant ambitions and is committed to delivering world-class hospital and community services for the 1.65 million people we serve.
Together we employ nearly 20,000 staff. Our five main hospital sites are Diana, Princess of Wales Hospital, Scunthorpe General Hospital and Goole and District Hospital, for NLAG and Hull Royal Infirmary and Castle Hill Hospital for HUTH.
As Teaching Hospitals working with the Hull York Medical School, we both lead and contribute to research in many areas - biomedical research, primary care, palliative medicine, cardiovascular and respiratory medicine, vascular surgery, cancer surgery and oncology.
We believe that by developing a diverse, inclusive, innovative, skilled and caring workforce, we can deliver excellent care to our patients and a great future for our employees, our Partnership and our community.
