Description:
JOB OVERVIEW:
Mikisew is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Vegetation Control Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing and maintaining vegetation in various environments to ensure safety, enhance aesthetics, and support environmental health. This role requires a combination of fieldwork, planning, and coordination to effectively control and manage plant growth in designated areas.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: High school diploma or equivalent; must possess a valid Pesticide Applicator Certificate and/or any additional training or certification with respect to vegetation control is preferred.
Experience: Proven experience in vegetation management or landscaping, including familiarity with vegetation control techniques and equipment.
Skills: Strong knowledge of plant species, growth patterns, and control methods. Ability to operate machinery and use hand tools effectively.
Physical Requirements: Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting, bending, and working in various weather conditions.
Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with team members and clients.
Responsibilities:
Vegetation Management: Implement and oversee vegetation control measures, including mowing, trimming, and removal of unwanted plants, weeds, and shrubs.
Safety and Compliance: Ensure all vegetation control practices comply with local, state, and federal regulations, including environmental and safety standards.
Inspection and Assessment: Conduct regular inspections of sites to assess vegetation growth, identify potential hazards, and recommend appropriate control methods.
Equipment Operation: Operate and maintain specialized equipment such as mowers, brush cutters, and herbicide sprayers safely and efficiently.
Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of vegetation control activities, including schedules, treatments applied, and observations.
Collaboration: Work closely with other team members, including landscape architects, environmental engineers, and maintenance staff, to achieve vegetation control goals.
Public Relations: Address any concerns or inquiries from the public or clients regarding vegetation control efforts and provide professional and courteous responses.
