Description:

JOB DESCRIPTION & PERSON SPECIFICATION >

Torbay is a glorious part of the UK. A magnet for tourists sitting on the beautiful Tor Bay and next to the stunning natural landscape of Dartmoor National Park. We benefit from a mild climate making this a hugely attractive place to live and work. We are an agile unitary authority, and you’ll soon discover this is a place where you can make things happen quickly. We have real momentum, with once in a generation investment taking place across our three towns of Torquay, Paignton and Brixham. We have a shared sense of purpose and ambition and everyone who works here has the same thing in common - to see a healthy, happy and prosperous Torbay.
Our ambition is to improve quality of life in Torbay through the development of culture and heritage. Thanks to investment from the National Lottery Heritage Fund, we can make a major step forward with this programme of work. Torbay Council has entered into a new 10-year partnership with the Heritage Fund to support heritage within the bay and to deliver the aims of the Torbay Heritage Strategy which includes the updating of our existing conservation area appraisals, specifically those related to the Brixham Town, Old Paignton and Torquay Harbour Conservation Areas.
This role is a temporary contract for two years with a view to extension. The successful candidate will assist in preparation and review of Conservation Area Appraisals, prepare, promote and progress conservation schemes and initiatives and support engagement. Our new Heritage and Design Team work in collaboration with colleagues and external agencies including a local Heritage Forum
