With growth in our fleet numbers, we are looking for an additional HGV Mechanic/Fitter to join our team in Beauly. Reporting to the Depot Manager, the Fitter will be responsible for the maintenance, inspection, repair, and testing of the Company’s fleet of HGVs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain, inspect, repair, and test GCU’s vehicles, plant and equipment, including fault diagnosis.
- Conduct periodic safety inspections on all HGV vehicles to DVSA inspection manual standards.
- Diagnose faults on complex hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
- Prepare and present vehicles for 6-weekly inspections and annual MOT inspections.
- Attend to broken-down or accident-damaged vehicles to perform necessary repairs.
- Ensure adherence to all relevant legislation and Health and Safety procedures.
Skills and Experience Required:
- Time served (City and Guilds) or equivalent, ideally with an IRTEC Commercial Inspection Qualification.
- Ideally possess an HGV license category C minimum.
- Previous experience in a relevant Fitter/Technician role.
- Knowledge of workshop health and safety practices.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision, manage time effectively, and meet deadlines.
- Good standard of verbal and written communication, with the ability to use computer systems for compliance record keeping.
