HGV Technician - Dublin (Full-Time, Permanent)
A leading provider of waste management and recycling solutions is looking for an HGV Technician to join their team in Dublin. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a forward-thinking company committed to sustainability and innovation.
Role Overview
The successful candidate will be responsible for the maintenance, servicing, and repair of a diverse fleet of heavy goods vehicles (HGVs), including refuse collection vehicles (RCVs), hook loaders, chain skip loaders, as well as artic and rigid curtain-siders.
This role requires a strong technical background in vehicle mechanics, including engines, cabs, chassis, lifting equipment, and weighing systems. Candidates with general HGV experience and a willingness to upskill in specialist areas are encouraged to apply.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct routine servicing and repairs on HGVs, including engines, brakes, suspension, hydraulics, and electrical systems.
  • Diagnose faults and carry out repairs on mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic components.
  • Prepare vehicles for CVRT tests, LOLER tests, and 13-week inspections, ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
  • Investigate and resolve complex mechanical issues to maintain fleet reliability.
  • Replace worn or defective parts such as tyres, brakes, and steering components.
  • Carry out regular vehicle inspections to ensure legal and safety compliance.
  • Maintain accurate service records, including inspections, repairs, and parts usage.
  • Work closely with the workshop team and external contractors to prioritise workloads and minimise vehicle downtime.
  • Attend roadside breakdowns when necessary.
  • Adhere to health and safety protocols, maintaining a clean and safe working environment.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as an HGV Technician or similar role in vehicle maintenance.
  • Relevant mechanical qualification (QQI or equivalent).
  • Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills.
  • Experience using diagnostic equipment and maintenance tools.
  • Familiarity with health and safety regulations within a workshop environment.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Full driving licence (HGV licence preferred but not essential).
  • Proficiency in both spoken and written English.
